sand castles

We're back from vacation.  I think everyone needed the vacation.  Kids included.  Things were getting a bit dicey in the house for everyone.  It was a great vacation filled with the beach, relaxing, Disney, good food and family.  Can't really beat it.  I have pictures but, for now, I'm going to try to catch up on what we've been doing the last couple of months in hopes that we'll be "real time" soon.

Back in the beginning of October, we were all starting the "We need a vacation" breakdown.  We had some sand left over from the sensory box we made during our last trip to the condo so I decided it was time to start the sand castle project I saved from Family Fun.

What I didn't anticipate was the smell.  Ugh.  I am the first one to love the beach.  The sun.  The sound.  I even love the smell....until you boil it down and concentrate it into a bunch of sand clay.  Ugh.  Gross.  I could barely stand it.  I stood about 3 feet away from the kids while they played with the stuff.  When I got too close I swear my eyes started to water.

I can't tell you how permanent the stuff is for two reasons.  First, the kids really didn't build a sand castle with it.  They just played around in the stuff.  Second, I had to get it out of my house because of the smell.  I guess the smell wasn't that bad...maybe I'm exaggerating.  It was two months ago...
