the appleseed moment

I've been making an effort to not tell the kids to hold on a sec when they ask me to do something.  I feel like I'm going to blink and they're going to be asking for car keys or walking five paces ahead or behind me.  How much longer am I going to get asked to have a make believe picnic on my family room floor?

Speaking of make believe picnics on the family room floor, anna loves to take her little mini spatulas and just sit and mix air in one of her stacking cups.  She does it all the time.  Even if I have the tv on, she'll grab a cup and a spatula and sit and mix while she watches.  She's also saying cheese whenever I point my camera or phone at her.  Oh, and we flipped her carseat forward today.  I feel like I'm going to be sending her off to college tomorrow.

So the other day jake was eating an apple.  He found a seed and told me how if you planted the seed it would become an apple tree.  I started to tell him maybe we'll plant a seed one day.  I stopped myself.  Why couldn't we just do it right then?  I got an old tin and some dirt from a random pot outside and we planted the seeds he found.  We talked about how plants need water, dirt and sun to grow.  He totally forgot about the seeds after a couple of days...thank goodness because what are the chances that it would actually start to grow???...but, we were able to fit in a quick science lesson and activity.
