no school…cold…polar vortex | columbus, ohio family photographer

I've said before that I've decided to give myself a break.  That decision came just in time for the polar vortex.  Let me tell you why...

First, the pv has led to numerous delays and school closings.  I totally get and support why they've had to do it.  I'm not complaining.  I guess I kind of am but, only when it happens on Thursdays.  Thursday is my only day of the week where I have both kids in school at the same time.  Its a glorious 2.5 hours.  I feel like I've put some time in for that 2.5 hours and I really like it.  That's not even really the point.  It is crazy hard to be trapped inside with your kids all day and not turn the tv on.  Its damn near impossible.  In the summer, I can send those kids outside to play.  In the pv, I flip on Charlie and Lola and call it a day.  No guilt.  At least I didn't flip on Spongebob.

Second, I hate the cold.  I hate the snow.  A client once told me they thought if you didn't grow up with the cold and snow, you never really get used to it and like it.  Well, I grew up in south east VA and the world shut down if there was a dusting.  If there was as much snow as what is outside my door right now, apocalypse.  So if the only memory my children have of their childhood is that mommy hated the snow, wouldn't go out in it, and they had to wait for daddy to get home to play in it….I'm fine with that…I'm giving myself a break.

I'm not going to lie, the snow does provide some memory making pictures.
